DIFFERENT VIEWPOINTS

Today we were challenged to look at block designs from different viewpoints.

We were given the 'front' view' and we had to draw the 'bird's eye' view.

Looking at designs on paper was challenging, so we used unifix blocks to create the designs. What many of us 'thought' we would see was more like the 'front' view and not 'bird's-eye' .

We discovered that the 'bird's-eye' view was TOTALLY different to the 'front' view.

We enjoyed this activity so much, that we made some of our own block designs so that we could challenge each other.

Have a look at the designs in the slide show. Choose one, stop the slideshow and draw what you believe the bird's-eye' view to be.

BIRD'S EYE VIEW AT HOME

All of us have been investigating 'bird's-eye view' at home.

INVESTIGATING BIRD'S-EYE VIEW

To help us better understand how to read
and interpret maps,
we have been exploring the concept of 'bird's-eye view'.


Things look very different when looked at from above.

After lots of exploring, we discovered that from a 'bird's -eye view', 3D objects look 2D.

We placed some objects on our desks, looked down on them and drew what we saw.

We had to think about their SHAPE, POSITION and SIZE.
