INSPIRED BY KANDINSKY ( AND 3C! )

We have been investigating 2D and 3D shapes so that we can more easily read and interpret maps and plans.





We read about the Russian artist, Kandinsky, on 3C's blog. He was an 'abstract' artist who used lots of 2D and 3D shapes in his paintings.

We loved what 3C had done and after looking at some more of Kandinsky's art, we wanted to have a go as well.

DIFFERENT VIEWPOINTS

Today we were challenged to look at block designs from different viewpoints.

We were given the 'front' view' and we had to draw the 'bird's eye' view.

Looking at designs on paper was challenging, so we used unifix blocks to create the designs. What many of us 'thought' we would see was more like the 'front' view and not 'bird's-eye' .

We discovered that the 'bird's-eye' view was TOTALLY different to the 'front' view.

We enjoyed this activity so much, that we made some of our own block designs so that we could challenge each other.

Have a look at the designs in the slide show. Choose one, stop the slideshow and draw what you believe the bird's-eye' view to be.
