USING THE BEE BOT

On Thursday we used the Bee bot and our DS's to play a direction game.. The Bee Bot had to start on number one and Sam had to roll the dice and we had to look at the number and work it out and then we had to write it in pictochat on our DS's.

It's like an maths game. A bee bot is a robot that you can program to stop and go -move forwards, backwards, left and  right.  Mrs M got it for us at a work shop. We like the bee bot. Thank you Mrs M!!!!

ARE WE TALKING GOBBLEYGOOK?

NO!!
It's just the language of direction and movement.

Today we played the game 'LADYBUG MAZE' to
help us practise giving directions with 'right angle turns'.

After 'programming' the ladybug to hide behind a leaf and find her way through many mazes, we decided it would be fun to write a 'program' to help a classmate get back to their desk.

We marked a spot at the front of the room with a 'cross' and off we went!

Were we running around in circles?
NO!!!

Mrs M was AMAZED at how accurate our 'programs' were!

We all made it back to our desks and some of us discovered we could get there more quickly if we turned diagonally - we learnt that was a 45 degree turn!

Here are some of the 'programs' we wrote

and here is a movie of one of our 'programs' in action!

FUN WITH PROGRAMMING

Here are the links to the sites to help with this week's homework.
After you have 'played' with creating a 'program' to get the ladybug to her destination, then you will be ready to write one for yourself.
Have fun 'programming'.
