This week we have been investigating the concept of a 'metre'.
The 'metre' is a unit of measurement that we can use to measure
large objects.
Today we used the metre ruler to measure out '1 metre' paper strips to use as measuring tapes.
Then we went measuring!

We could choose to measure how LONG, TALL or WIDE something was but before we measured we had to ESTIMATE -
" Is it MORE than a metre or LESS than a metre?"
After lots of great discussion...
we recorded down the results of our investigations.

There were some surprises but we discovered many things in our room were MORE than a metre.
Tomorrow we we take our measuring 'outside'!
For more measuring fun, there's a great sorting game at RAINFOREST MATHS.
